I have been not-great at keeping up on this, but I do want to do it and I appreciate all the suggestions. Here’s what people have brought up (I haven’t double-checked all the author names/titles so minor mistakes may exist).
I made a new section of the newsletter for this called “RC Interactive”. I think you have to subscribe to that section seperately and manually to get notifications about this. If that doesn’t seem to work, please let me know and I’ll figure it out. Let the voting begin!
The Meditations, Marcus Aurelius
A Guide to the Good Life, William Braxton Irvine
The Siege of Krishnapur, J.G. Farrell
The Winter King, Bernard Cornwell
Dawn of Everything, Greaber and Wengrow
Conspiracy Against the Human Race, Ligotti
Power of Regret, Pink
Gilead, Marilynne Robinson
Worth the Candle, Alexander Wales (Fair warning: this is a pretty long webfiction about a guy who gets sucked into a world that runs on DnD rules and goes on adventures)
The Benedict Option, Rod Dreher (Full disclosure: this is the one I suggested.
So, I've been real crappy about this, but it looks like the votes go like this:
Primary votes:
Benedict option: 2 and a half (not counting me)
Graeber: 1 (and one anti-vote, sort of?)
Meditations: 2 and a half
I think if I'm being fair here I go with Meditations, right? Because Benedict is religious, I feel like there might be some people who specifically don't want it. I'm down if that's the direction y'all want to go.
Also: Do we want a slack channel for this, or do you guys just want to do it in the comments, or?
